Making future AI earbud experiences tangible through interaction design and prototyping.

As earbuds become more intelligent, interaction design shifts from screen-based UI to wearable, audio-first behavior. AI earbud experiences need to feel helpful without being distracting, proactive without feeling intrusive, and simple without relying on a screen. This project focused on turning future AI earbud concepts into tangible, testable experiences. My role focused on creating UX/UI flows for screen-based touchpoints, designing interaction videos to show how each feature would work in real-world moments, building prototypes for user testing, and refining the experiences based on feedback.

My Contributions

Concept Development & User Research

Contributed to designing 11 future AI earbud concepts exploring audio memory, spatial guidance, translation, and proactive assistance. Conducted 500-person quantitative user testing to evaluate desirability, then synthesized results to identify 5 hero experiences for deeper interaction design.

Concept Video Creation

Created high-level concept videos for all 11 AI earbud concepts to bring each future experience to life and support desirability testing. Shared the videos with stakeholders and executives to communicate each concept’s value, vision, and future potential.

Interaction Design & Experience Flows

Led deep-dive interaction design for the top 5 concepts, creating end-to-end UX/UI flows and micro-interaction flows where screen-based touchpoints were needed. Filmed and produced interaction design videos to show how each feature would work in real-world moments across audio-first and phone interactions.

Experience Prototyping & User Testing

Helped build interactive and audio prototypes for the top 3 concepts, making tangible versions of future AI earbud experiences that users could test in real-world scenarios. Conducted multiple rounds of usability testing to evaluate desirability, use-case fit, and interaction effectiveness, then synthesized findings into recommended concept refinements.
