Most earbuds force users to choose between their audio and their surroundings. For Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, I designed the mobile UX for adaptive hearing features that help users control what they hear — and what they don’t. These features included Adaptive ANC, Voice Detect, and Siren Detect, which shipped globally with Galaxy Buds3 Pro in 2024. My work focused on making complex AI-powered hearing features feel intuitive and natural to control.

My Contributions

End-to-End UX Design

Created end-to-end UX flows, detailed UI screens, and prototypes for responsive hearing features across the Galaxy Wearable app. Designed the onboarding, Buds pairing, and continuous education experience to guide users from first setup through long-term feature discovery.

Interaction Design & Scenario Mapping

Mapped the environmental triggers behind each adaptive hearing mode and defined how the device should respond in real-world contexts. Explored multiple interaction and UI directions grounded in user scenarios to identify the clearest and most intuitive experience.

Usability Testing & Validation

Conducted A/B and usability testing to evaluate interaction flows, UI clarity, and feature desirability. Synthesized user feedback into refined UX directions and product recommendations.

Cross-Device Experience Design

Extended the experience across the Galaxy ecosystem, designing adaptive hearing notifications and controls for the lock screen, notification panel, Galaxy Watch, and widget surfaces.
